Steens Mountain Wilderness Fall Color Road Trip 2014

On Sat, Oct 3, 2014, Kam, Ursina, and I hit the road to check out the fall colors in the Steens Mountain Wilderness. The Steens are known for some of the best fall colors in Oregon. We were not disappointed!

After driving for 7h through amazingly wide-open landscapes, we arrived in the Steens after dark. For the first night we set up camp at Jackman Park. Initially, we were planning to backpack the Big Indian Gorge or the Little Blitzen Gorge the next day, but decided to stay for another night at Jackman Park and do day hikes instead.

The following clip shows some impressions of the trip.

Tom Iraci has a great Steens fall color gallery: http://iracigallery.zenfolio.com/p141103766

I’ll post more pics in this blog as they get post-processed. Stay tuned…
